About AOI Mumbai West
ENT and Head Neck Surgery as a speciality has existed for more than a century now; however, the
speciality has grown exponentially since the late 1980s and has now turned into a niche field with
many subspecialties. With the growth of the specialty, knowledge dissemination and keeping abreast of
newer advances became of paramount importance.
Mumbai’s western suburbs also witnessed an exponential increase in population and correspondingly a steady increase in the number of practising ENT surgeons. This led to the recognition of the need for a branch of AOI (Association of Otolaryngologists of India) specifically catering to ENT and Head and Neck surgeons practicing in the western suburbs of the city. By the year 2000, a need to have a registered body was felt. This is how AOI Mumbai West Branch was formed.
Most members of AOI Mumbai West Branch are private practitioners. The very aim of this association has been to provide to our members a platform where they can present their work. Over the last 25 years, members have learnt how to present papers, to prepare surgical videos, and have developed oratorial skills.
AOI Mumbai West Branch is a very vibrant organization. It routinely conducts a number of seminars, CMEs, conferences, and surgical workshops. The Association has won the Best Branch Trophy three times, given by the Federation of Maharashtra State Branches of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India.
It has been conducting the Mumbai Manthan conference successfully for the last two years.
